Baw Baw Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest from community members to join its Advisory Committees. If you want to get involved with Council and play an active role in improving Council services, programs and policies then this is an opportunity for you!

About the Advisory Committees

Advisory Committees are consultative bodies that see residents work directly with Councillors and Council Officers.

Council operates four Advisory Committees that provide recommendations and advice to help it make decisions that benefit the entire Baw Baw community. The four committees are the;

  • Arts and Culture Advisory Committee
  • Early Years Advisory Committee
  • Environmental Voice Advisory Committee
  • Place Names Advisory Committee

Each committee has a Terms of Reference that guides its operations and how it will assist Council. You can access each committee's Terms of Reference and the overarching Advisory Committee Policy in the Documents section. A summary of what each committee does is below.

Arts and Culture Advisory Committee

Help create strategies, programs, exhibitions and events that enhance Baw Baw Shire’s reputation as a vibrant centre for arts and cultural activity.

Early Years Advisory Committee

Share ideas and knowledge about how early years services provided within the Shire can be improved and provide feedback on projects that impact families.

Environmental Voice Advisory Committee

Provide input into the creation and evaluation of environmental initiatives and programs, including the Environmental Sustainability Strategy Action Plan.

Place Names Advisory Committee

The Place Names Advisory Committee is a valuable forum for discussion and recommendations on the naming of Baw Baw Shire's streets, parks, reserves and features.

Council will endorse the Advisory Committee appointments at a future Council Meeting, and successful applicants will be contacted directly.
