What's the role of the Project Reference Group?

We want the Project Reference Group (PRG) to bring local knowledge, individual skills and passion to help identify potential projects of the future.

PRG members will be asked to provide sensible, balanced feedback based on their knowledge and experiences, and share updates with friends, family, colleagues and connections.

The PRG will meet monthly throughout the first half of 2024 and provide local advice and recommendations to Council through the project team.

The first meeting will be held February 2024.

    Who are we looking for?

The PRG will consist of up to 6 local representatives, appointed through the expression of interest process.

Members will ideally have a broad range of ages, genders, and cycling interests to ensure that views from all sections of the community are captured.

We are seeking out individuals who:

    • Are interested in identifying opportunities for future cycling projects
    • Can help represent a broad range of views that reflect a diverse community.
    • Are willing to contribute positively to activities and meetings.

The expression of interest is open to all residents Baw Baw residents.

    What is the membership criteria?

Community members looking to be part of the PRG should meet at least one of the following criteria:

    • Have a good knowledge and understanding of local issues impacting the cycling community.
    • Are involved in the wider cycling community or clubs, and have strong connections and community networks.
    • Can attest to the ability and need to contribute positively to meetings in a fair and unbiased manner, looking beyond personal interests for the benefit of the broader community.

Please note that all PRG positions are voluntary and Council is not obliged to accept any or all expressions of interest.

Expressions of interest will be assessed to achieve a diverse mix of members.

What are the Terms of Reference?

The PRG's role and responsibilities are defined by the Terms of Reference. The Terms of Reference provides:

    • A clear description of the roles and functions of the PRG (to be discussed and agreed upon at the first meeting).
    • An agreed charter by which the PRG can manage its performance.
    • A formalised agreement and shared understanding between the PRG and the Project Manager/Project Team on what roles and functions the PRG has agreed to accept.
