Dates and Occasions of Celebration and Significance Policy
Consultation has concluded
Council adopted the Dates and Occasions of Celebration and Significance Policy at the Wednesday 4 September 2024 Council meeting.
We would like to thank our community members who took the time to provide their feedback.
Baw Baw Shire’s community is growing in size and diversity, and as our community evolves, it offers an opportunity for Council to consider how to commemorate dates and occasions that are significant and recognise the people that make up our Shire. This includes, but is not limited to, ancestry, religious beliefs, education, and health.
The Dates and Occasions of Celebration and Significance Policy will be used to review the existing dates and occasions of significance and to determine an annual calendar of initiatives for Council to support by applying a supporting framework and tiered approach.
This will allow for the recognition of our diverse community, ensuring a strategic approach to Council’s investment and enabling the appropriate allocation of resources to achieve the best outcomes for the community.
