Baw Baw Shire Council is developing a new Domestic Animal Management Plan, and you are invited to have your say, your way!
What is the Domestic Animal Management Plan?
The Domestic Animal Management Plan is up for review.
The Domestic Animal Management Plan is a four-year plan that provides Council with a strategic, balanced approach towards:
•Promotion of responsible pet ownership,
•The welfare of dogs and cats in the community; and
•The protection of the community and the environment from nuisance dogs and cats.
Why is it under review?
State Government regulations require Council to prepare a new Domestic Animal Management Plan every four years.
By undertaking a review of the Domestic Animal Management Plan, Council can ensure it is meeting current community expectations while also protecting our residents, assets and facilities.
What's happened so far?
During March and April 2025, we asked our community to let us know their thoughts on dogs and cats in Baw Baw.
Feedback from this initial round of consultation will help us consider emerging issues and ensure the Domestic Animal Management Plan is relevant.
How can I have my say on the new Domestic Animal Management Plan?
Consultation on the new draft Domestic Animal Management Plan will run from 30 May to 27 June 2025.
Please visit this page from 30 May 2025 to take a look at the draft Domestic Animal Management Plan, then share your feedback.
