We’re preparing our Economic Development and Visitor Economy Strategy for the next four years and we want to hear your thoughts.
This Strategy is about supporting steady and inclusive growth across the region by building on our economic strengths and unlocking new opportunities. As one of Victoria’s fastest-growing peri-urban areas, Baw Baw Shire is well placed to benefit from its closeness to Melbourne, strong agricultural industry, and growing towns to build a diverse, vibrant and resilient economy.
The Strategy aims to support local businesses, attract new investment, and create local jobs. It also focuses on improving liveability while protecting the Shire’s natural environment and rural character. It will guide planning and decision-making to balance the needs of the community, businesses, and the environment, ensuring growth benefits everyone.
The proposed key priorities are:
Strengthen and diversify the local economy
Build local skills and job opportunities
Plan for sustainable growth and infrastructure
Improve tourism and visitor experiences
Support sustainability and economic resilience
Here's how you can have your say:
Review the Draft Economic Development and Visitor Economy Strategy Document and complete the survey to help shape the future of our region.
This community consultation closes at 5pm on Friday 27 March 2026.
