The proximity to Melbourne and the unique environmental features of the Noojee region are already attracting large numbers of visitors.
The Eco Tourism Innovation Working Group aims to introduce exciting new tourism attractions to the region that, combined with existing ventures, will promote sustainable growth and provide an economic boost to businesses.
The project is supporting businesses to increase their understanding of the visitor market and improving the opportunity for business to leverage local assets to create more experiences for visitors.
The Working Group have prioritised a number of activities to investigate, and following the announcement of successful funding, a feasibility study is being completed to explore tourist attraction options that the group believe will help set Noojee up as an eco-tourism destination:
Forest Therapy and health and wellbeing experiences
Guided tours, such as animal spotlight and biodiversity tours
Development and connection of tracks and trails
Integration of augmented reality activities in the forest
A visitor welcome point
The Group has recently met with the Consultant completing the feasibility study to view the draft interim report, which will be reviewed with feedback to be provided to the Consultant prior to the final report being issued late November 2024.
