Located in a forest with a diverse range of flora and fauna, including endangered and threatened species, Noojee presents a unique opportunity for immersive educational programs for primary, secondary and tertiary environmental curriculum facilitation.
To investigate local options for such a facility, the Multipurpose Community Hub & Education Centre Working Group undertook a tour of the Noojee Primary School, after which they identified the site as the best fit for the proposed centre.
To progress the initiative and following the announcement of successful funding, a feasibility study is being conducted to further explore opportunities such as;
possible community uses such as library facilities, meeting spaces, room hire
education spaces for primary, secondary, tertiary, trade and community classes
the delivery of environmentally focused education experiences
research opportunities
demonstration site for best practices in sustainability, agriculture, and local produce development
complimentary accommodation.
The centre will provide not only formal education activities but also environmental and indigenous knowledge, awareness, education and engagement activities to the community and tourists on a fee-for-use basis, similar to other successful ventures such as Myuna Farm and Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort’s Dingo Encounters.
The Group has recently met with the Consultant completing the feasibility study to view the draft interim report, which will be reviewed with feedback to be provided to the Consultant prior to the final report being issued late November 2024.
