What is the Community Local Law?
The Community Local Law guides Council’s compliance and enforcement activities for a wide range of topics, including property amenity, keeping of animals and construction sites.
Why was it under review?
By undertaking a review of the Community Local Law Council can ensure it is meeting current community expectations while also protecting our residents, assets and facilities.
Community Consultation
During March 2024 we asked our community to let us know their thoughts on the Community Local Law and also share ideas on other issues to explore. We heard from 49 people and the feedback has been used to develop a new draft Community Local Law.
At a meeting on 5 June 2024, Council resolved to release the draft Community Local Law for community consultation from 7 June to 5 July 2024.
We received feedback from 21 people and used this information to help finalise the Community Local Law.
New Community Local Law has been adopted by Council.
At a meeting on 7 August 2024, Council adopted the new Community Local Law 2024, which will become effective from 1 December 2024.
